Enemies who are unique

Enemies who are unique

Postby Shoggoth on the Roof » Mon May 19, 2014 10:46 pm

I've been wondering about this for a little while.

At this time, how many enemies are there in the game who can be randomly encountered (so not counting bosses like the Nightmare or Hyena Queen) are unique creatures such that each time you have that encounter you're always meeting the same individual.

Off the top of my head I can think of:
Doberman
Jaguar Cop
Butterfly
Sewer Gator
Viking
Hermaphrodite Latex Vixen (maybe- the description of the second encounter indicates this but isn't explicit)

Are there any others?
A big monster like that on such a pointed roof... You may ask 'how does it stay up there, if it's so difficult?'

That, I can tell you in one word: tentacles!

Mike and Susan, if one attacks them.
Zephias the spidertaur
Septus the football wolfman
The wrestling wolf
The herm collie
The thought eater (aka The Master)
The german shepherd (I think he remembers previous encounters)
Thaniel, the elven hunter
The female elf
...

The blue chaffinch (Icarus) is another I just remembered.

Peculiar Dragon is one, I suppose.

This is actually fairly unclear in certain areas. For example, I'm fairly certain the sewer gator has one of them as a unique NPC, with the rest not being. Overall, it's a design flaw that monsters aren't effectively telegraphed as being unique or not, exacerbated by the very procedural nature of encounters.

I believe the Alpha Wolf/Husky are also unique, but in a very nonspecific, "There can be only one!" sort of way.

- The GSD is a special case. Losing against him is treated as losing to the same one, while victory isn't as clear.
- The Alpha Huskies are not unique. There's even some events where you encounter several at once.
- The Alpha Wolves are a special case. Losing against one is sort of treated like it's the same one repeatedly, but beating and fucking them instead may result in them being 'deposed', resetting it to a fresh one. I forget the details offhand.
- Some of the Peacock's content implies it's the same one, but that may not be the case.
- The loss scenes for the Bear seem to be with the same one repeatedly as well.
- The Feral Cheetah may be another one.
- The Hippo probably is, but the player can't be sure, since he keeps changing his stage name.
- The Horse-Hung Nerd
- The (margay) Megakitty
- The Raccoon (who becomes Candy/pink raccoon pet)
- The Stag (Mike if attacked)
- The Tiger Cop (Sgt Marks if attacked)
- The Deer (Susan, if not taken as mate)

There's probably some others, but those are the ones I found with a quick scan.

For some reason, I thought Sgt. Marks was a jaguar, not a tiger. I must have been merging him with the Jaguar Warrior at the museum or something.

No, he's a tiger. That's why he's obsessed with those tigress hookers.

But speaking of jaguars, the jaguar warrior obviously is unique too...
