Hayato the red oni is relatively recent, is this just on hiatus or effectively dead?

I was the original commissioner of Hayato. I don't want to say he is dead. After my original commission he got an Oni Lair update which I am unfamiliar with so I wasn't sure where I could take his character. I've since moved on to Rane the Blue Oni, and I already have a scenario outlined for interactions with him and Hayato. Lack of funds lately had put things on hold. Also Wahn doesn't have as much time as he used to.
